Creative teacher will change edu environment in school: Ivan D’Silva

Dubai: The 17th episode of NewsKarnataka.com’s Namaste Teacher was held on Saturday April 9 at 6.30 pm IST.

The guest teacher for the evening was Ivan D’Silva, Former Lecturer and Social Influencer. The special guests of evening are his students, Shashikant R. Rathod, Junior Training Officer, Government ITI, Shiggaon, Haveri, Rakshith Bangera, Motor Insurance Surveyor, and Mahantesh Asangi, Assistant Manager, Production Department at Mahindra and Mahindra.

The event host was Kiran Nirkan.

Through teacher-student interaction, the series strives to highlight teachers and their impact on students. On youtube.com/newskarnataka, the show will be streamed live.

Kiran Nirkan Introduced the guests and welcomed them.

Ivan D’Silva known for his social activism shed light on his career journey till the retirement. He recalled certain incidents which was a moment of joy and contentment in his career life.

Student Mahantesh Asangi expressing his experience with Ivan D’Silva said, “Those three years of life at college we learnt how to lead our lives. Generally technical field is something where no one expects a student to be a good singer or spokesperson. But it was Ivan sir who changed the mechanical field to a magical one.”

Rakshith Bangera said, “Sir would illuminate our minds towards brainstorming. He was the teacher who explained life to us in a unique dimension.

Shashikant R. Rathod recalling his memories expressed the revolutionary that existed within his lecturer. He recalled the incident where lecturer Ivan D’Silva succeeded in tackling the inflation of the mess bill through a student-oriented approach and gaining the trust of students.

Host Kiran too being a student of Ivan D’Silva recalled his best memories with sir and expressed his gratitude.

Expressing their views on ‘How teachers bring In changes within a generation through their dedication’ students expressed, “It was through Ivan sir, we learnt teachers can even be friends among their students and the relationship is not restricted to student bowing their head with folded hands. If a teacher fails in performing his/her duty an entire generation will be at loss,” they noted.

Ivan D’Silva speaking on Teacher-Student relationship said, Presence of a creative teacher in a school will change an entire environment of the institute. I too have learnt man management and classroom management from my students. Mainataing a good teacher-student bond is indeed good, he stressed.

Teachers are not recognised many a times. Namaste Teacher programme is a very good initiative in this regard, expressed Ivan D’Silva. Both teacher and students expressed their gratitude to NewsKarnataka.
