Teachers should understand students’ feelings: Rajamani sir

Dubai: The 30th episode of NewsKarnataka.com’s Namaste Teacher was held on Friday July 1 at 6.30 pm IST.

The guest teacher for the evening was Rajamani Ramakunja. The special guests of the evening were his students, Sooryanarayana Rao B., Officer, Karnataka Bank, Mangaluru, Vasudha G. N., Assistant Teacher, Siri Vidyalaya, Palthaje, Salethur, Rajashri, Research Scholar, CSIR-CFTRI, Mysuru, and Dinesh Holla, Graphic Designer.

The event host was Kiran Nirkan.

Through teacher-student interaction, the series strives to highlight teachers and their impact on students. The programme was premiered on NewsKarnataka.com’s Facebook and YouTube channels.

In the beginning of the show Kiran Nirkan introduced the guests and welcomed them.

Rajamani Rajakunja rewinding to his childhood journey relished, how he hailed from a below poverty level family and ate one meal a day and stated, “I worked as a gate keeper and the owner knowing I am a pre-university passed offered me a clerical post but earned the same salary that of a gate keeper.”

Recalling his career journey being a teacher he stated, “Our students are all the resources we possess. And when the resource within them is brought into light they will walk through the same path,” he said.

Vasudha G. N. sharing her experience with sir said, “Rajamani sir gave me an opportunity to facilitate a programme in Akashavani which neither before that nor after that I got. I have learnt a lot from sir specially I have learnt to utilise the opportunity,” she expressed.

Sooryanarayana Rao B. said, “Sir was our inspiration in extra-curricular activities. We always saw his eagerness to find or learn something new. I have also witnessed sir’s love for the environment in spite of receiving threats against the actions taken to protect environment.”

Rajashri said, “Sir had understood the mindset of students and so he was successful in reaching even to non-meritorious students and also stated Rajamani sir to be a sensitive man.

Dinesh Holla expressed, “The unique quality of sir is understood only after passing out from school. He said, “The teachers who write on black board may fade away but the one’s who write on our hearts are eternal.”

Discussing the role of teachers in evolving a generation guests expressed, “There should be a goal in front and a teacher behind. A teacher is an inspiration in forming a strong society. As the number of ideal teacher better the society and they are the ones to teach life lessons.”

Teacher Rajamani Ramakunja said, “Teachers must share life experiences along subjects to their students and must understand the feelings of the students.”

Both teachers and students appreciated Newskarnataka ‘s initiative in facilitating a programme to enhance teacher – student bond.
