Dubai: Karnataka Press Club Council (KPCC) and Kannadigas Dubai jointly organised a press conference and preparatory meeting at Omega Hotel, Dubai on Sunday October 23.
The programme was presided over by Karnataka Press Club Council Bengaluru President Dr T. Shivakumar Nagara Navile. Karnataka Press Club Council Gulf, Kannadigas Dubai and Namma Kundapura Kannada Balaga Gulf President Sadan Das, and Karnataka Press Club Council Cultural and Arts Committee State President Ravi Santhosh were present.
Sadan Das explained the future plans of the Vishwa Kannada Habba and the future projects of the programme. Speaking as the chief guest, Ravi Santosh said that it is our pride to be the non-resident Kannadigas who are settled in Dubai and serving the Kannada language. This unprecedented event requires the support and cooperation of non-resident Kannadigas, he said and wished all the very best for the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr T. Shivakumar Nagara Navile said this programme will be a fusion of native Kannadigas and non-resident Kannadigas. The main objective of the programme is to spread Kannada all over the world and in this regard, this year’s Vishwa Kannada Habba will be held in a grand manner in the land of Arabs, he said.
Like every year, this year’s Karnataka Rajyotsava and Antarashtriya Kannada Ratna Awards will be held under the auspices of Kannadigas Dubai at the same venue. Similarly, the Karnataka Ratna Dr Puneeth Rajkumar Award, which will be presented from this year, will be presented to the achievers who have pro-Kannada achievements in the Gulf countries, said Kannadigas Dubai President Sadan Das.
On this occasion, the office-bearers elected to the Karnataka Press Club Council Gulf Committee were felicitated with an order letter and a letter of appreciation. Ganesh Rai and Deepak Somashekar as were elected S Vice Presidents of Karnataka Press Club Council Gulf, Vijay Gujjar has been elected as the General Secretary and Arun Kumar has been elected as the President of the UAE Unit of the Karnataka Press Club Council
