Karnataka Sangha Qatar celebrates 25 years with Founders Day event

Doha, Qatar: Karnataka Sangha Qatar, an organisation under the Indian Embassy’s aegis, celebrated its Founders Day on 12th November 2024, marking 25 years of its formation. The milestone event was held at the Indian Cultural Centre’s Mumbai Hall, with distinguished guests, current and former committee members, and senior Sangha members in attendance.

A grand celebration of legacy

The ceremony began with the lighting of the lamp, led by President Ravi Shetty, Mrs. Jyothi Ravi Shetty, and other dignitaries, including Advisory Committee Chairman Mahesh Gowda, and former Presidents Arun Kumar, V.S. Mannangi, Deepak Shetty, Madhu H.K., Dr. Sanjay Kudari, and Mrs. Milan Arun, a Senior Member and Ex-President of the Indian Cultural Centre. Also present were ICC Vice President Subramanya Hebbagelu, Satish B.R., and other senior and current managing committee members.

President Ravi Shetty expressed heartfelt gratitude to all past and present members, volunteers, and sponsors for their contributions. He highlighted the privilege of leading the Sangha during this landmark Silver Jubilee year and emphasised its mission of promoting Kannada culture and unity among the Karnataka community in Qatar.

Event highlights

  • Rajata Geethe release: A special anthem written by former President H.K. Madhu was officially launched by Mrs. Milan Arun via live YouTube streaming, earning wide appreciation from attendees and online viewers. The anthem will feature prominently in the upcoming Karnataka Rajyotsava celebrations.
  • Unveiling of the Silver Jubilee banner: A new banner showcasing the Silver Jubilee Logo was revealed, symbolising a year-long celebration of this milestone.

Reflections and camaraderie

Former Presidents and senior members shared their cherished memories, highlighting the Sangha’s achievements over its 25-year journey. The event concluded on a warm note with light refreshments, fostering camaraderie among attendees.

The event was emceed by General Secretary Kumar Swamy, whose eloquence added to the programme’s charm.
