Mumbai: The City which has been the second hometown of Kannadigas and Tuluvas for more than two centuries, will witness a historic celebration of book sale and huge proceeds thereby on Sunday July 17. Writer Bhojaraj Shetty and Andheri Karnataka Sangha Former President and current Convenor Krishna B. Shetty is all set for a record by collaborating with everyone. The Bombay Bunts’ Association will witness such a unique effort. This is an attempt to put the effort on to book of records on global scale in along with the Limca Book of Records. A huge amount of Rs. 1,50,000 will be deposited with the Andheri Karnataka Sangha. This will be a record amount that the public will collect in a day. The countdown to the work of setting a record with the sale of 1000 copies on that day of its release has begun.

On Sunday under the auspices of The Andheri Karnataka Sangha, a request has been made to overseas Kannadigas to join hands to set a record at the Buntara Sangha. The cost of publishing the book has been borne by a donor. Another historical record is the decision of Writer Bhojaraj Shetty to donate all the money from the sale to the educational activities of The Karnataka Sangha, Andheri.

To commemorate the Amrit Mahotsav of India’s independence, under the auspices of Karnataka Sangha, Andheri (R) and Chembur Karnataka Sangha (R), the Karnataka State Border Development Authority, Government of Karnataka and Karnataka Tourism Department in association with pro-Kannada organisations in Mumbai and Department of Tourism, Mumbai will jointly organise ‘Horanadu Kannada Samskruti Sambhrama – 2022’. On this occasion Bhojaraj Shetty’s books, Kalpavruksha – a collection of stories, and Kamadhenu, a collection of poems will be released.

Convenor Krishna B. Shetty of Karnataka Sangha Andheri, is a well-wisher who encourages education. He and his team have been doing a great job in Mumbai for many years to enrich the education sector, responding to the financial distress of the suffering poor children (students) and wiping away their tears.

Expressing his views, Bhojaraj Shett says, “Being a horanada Kannadiga, I have realised that Kannada as a language cannot be imposed but has to be learnt as a mother tongue. Valuable education should be provided to the children. The beauty of Kannada should be instilled in the consciousness of the children in the most subtle way. Kannada language should be preserved and developed. All Kannadigas should embrace Kannada and accept it. If we, horanada kannadigas, want to correct this, we have to read stories, poems, novels and newspapers from Kannada. Without getting attracted to other languages we have to develop our language. I have put forward an open opinion in the hope that my two works will be appreciated by you.”

Bhojaraj thanked the donor wholeheartedly. “On the day of the book’s release, a new record should be created with the cooperation of horanadu Kannadigas. To get two of my works in advance, one can register their names by contacting me, Bhojaraj Shetty at 9137663385, Krishna Shetty at 9820661699, and Uday Kargal at 9167646447. The purchase price of the book is requested to be sent to ‘Karnataka Sangha Andheri, Bharat Co.op. Bank, Marol, lBranch, IFSC-0000009, A/c, 000810100112150, he added.

The books will be distributed at the event hall on July 17. Rs. 300 received by the book purchasers will be paid for the educational purposes. People from faroff places can get one or more works of mine by post by paying for it.

‘Kalpavruksha’, is a collection of stories wherein Karunakara N Shetty has written foreword. Columnist Latha Santhosh Shetty Muddumane has written the epilogue. Vidyadhar Muthalik Desai, Founder of Vidyadhara Kannada Pratishtana, has written foreword to ‘Kamadhenu’, collection of poems. M. M. Kanakeri, Hubballi a well-known journalist and editor of Susheela Monthly, has written the epilogue. Kalpavriksha, a collection of short stories, costs Rs. 150, while ‘Kamadhenu’, a collection of poems also costs Rs. 150. I am dedicating the proceeds from the works which are being sold without any selfishness to the educational activities of Karnataka Sangha, Andheri.
