Cincinnati, Ohio: All that glitters is not gold. No matter how much your trafficker pushes you for a greener pasture, always continue with the belief what you want to achieve is possible. Believing you can become successful is the most important step in actually achieving it.

Praful Chandra Kota a barber from Mangaluru got trapped paying a huge sum of money to get a lucrative job as a barber in Cameroon, Africa. Praful within months became a victim of labour trafficking working at a gold mine at night, with no salary and fed only once a day.

Alwyn Saldanha from Kadri a strong supporter of Eyes Open International contacted activist Harold D’Souza to rescue Praful from Cameroon.

Alwyn Saldanha spoke to the press; “Proud to note that our dear friend Harold’s ‘Eyes Open International’ (EOI) is unbelievably effective. A brief success story of Praful is; Our friend Rohit Kanchan’s hairdresser, Poorna expressed his brother Praful was in distress in Cameroon, Africa. Praful got allured to Cameroon with an assurance of being paid very highly as a barber by another Mangalorean. He reaches Cameroon on a Visiting Visa valid for 90 days and starts working in a Saloon for a month and lands working in gold mines on the night shift without a salary but only accommodation and food once a day. Praful was just surviving and had no hopes of getting out of the clutches of his employers.

When his story of misery was conveyed to Harold D’Souza through Alwyn, Harold through his connections evacuates Praful to a good hotel where he is fed properly and well taken care of his needs for over two months until his papers were completed for return to India.

Harold D’Souza with his resources in Washington D.C. and Cameroon provided Praful with air tickets to India via Dubai and to Mangaluru – all free of cost to Praful.

This entire salvation operation of a Mangalorean who was a victim of Human Trafficking was managed by Harold D’Souza located in the United States of America.

Harold D’Souza former member of the U.S. Advisory Council of Human Trafficking appointed by President Barack Obama and President Donald Trump said, “Full credit goes to Evelyn Chumbow from Washington DC, International Organization for Migration (IOM) at Cameroon, Alwyn Saldanha, Rohit and Praful for being calm during this impossible mission to make it possible”.

Dharan from Bengaluru shared, ‘I applaud and appreciate Harold D’Souza for his capabilities and his noble gesture towards mankind’.

A great initiative started by Harold and his family to help everyone who is in need. Great work by the entire EOI team to get Praful back to where he belongs. Well done Harold and EOI family spoke to Preetham Correa from Saudi Arabia.

Indira Nambiar from Hyderabad shared, ‘An amazing experience! Harold is a pure instrument of God. A unique entity. Kudos to the EOI team. True volunteers. We wish you to grow from strength to strength EOI team’.
