Young innovator Sindhoora Raja: Shaping a brighter future for rural India

Sindhoora Raja, a 16-year-old science enthusiast and innovator from Ullal, is making waves in the startup and healthcare sectors with her groundbreaking work. Honored with the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar, she aims to revolutionize Parkinson’s treatment and uplift rural communities in Karnataka and beyond.

Speaking at the Thingala Belaku – Gaurava Athithi program hosted by Ullal Press Club, Sindhoora shared her aspirations to advance her therapeutic device globally. “Currently, it’s a prototype, but I’ll soon turn it into a fully functional product,” she said. Her innovative tests for Parkinson’s diagnosis include a patented Brain Age prediction model, a spiral test, and a voice-based test. Additionally, she developed an affordable vibro-tactile device to treat symptoms like gait freezing, with another patent underway, supported by the New Horizon College of Engineering Incubation Centre.

Sindhoora credited the Atal Tinkering Lab and Atal Innovation Mission for aiding her prototype development and research. Reflecting on her award ceremony, she expressed pride in meeting President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “The PM’s encouragement was inspiring. He even reviewed my projects beforehand,” she remarked.

Her achievements earned praise from Assembly Speaker U T Khader, who lauded her dedication and the support of her parents. “Sindhoora’s success is a testament to how early encouragement can lead to remarkable milestones,” he said.
