Belagavi: Protests broke out after Axis Bank, a premier private sector bank, filed a case for loan recovery with a Kolkata Court.
Now, reportedly, the bank has withdrawn the case, after the farmers’ protests took a toll on them.
Speaking to reporters, the manager of Axis Bank’s Bailhongal branch, Rajkumar confirmed that the higher authorities of the bank have decided to revoke the case filed against the farmers.
He also said that, as the Kolkata court is on holiday for Diwali, the cases that were filed for the recovery of crop and equipment loans, will be revoked once they are back from their leave.
Rajkumar also informed that the state government verbally ordered the bank to withdraw the cases against the farmers and not to pressurise them for loan recovery.
The leader of Praja Pragati Ranga (PPR) and former president of the Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha, Kodihalli Chandrashekhar has requested the farmers to end their protest.
