Bagalakote: ‘Kuvempu’s contribution to Kannada literature immense’

Bagalakote: District Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Shivananda Shellikeri said that the intellectual messages of Rashtrakavi Kuvempu, popularly known as ‘Jagada Kavi’, are relevant to the entire world for all time on the basis of his rationalism of conveying human values to all sections of the society and spreading the message of universal humanity.

He was speaking after presiding over the World Human Day celebrations to mark the birth anniversary of Rashtrakavi Kuvempu at Kannada Sahitya Parishat Auditorium in Navanagara here in the City on Thursday December 29. He is known as the progressive Rasa Rishi writer of this country. He said his ideal, humane messages should be imbibed in life.

Writer Dr. Mainuddin Revadigara, who was the Chief Guest, said that Kuvempu was a poet, novelist and a visionary poet who advocated universal human principles. His Five Principles are important messages to the country and Aniketana’s Poem preaches the principle that the human spirit should not be static and should have a vision to rise to the top, he said.

Further speaking on the occasion he said, “Kuvempu has made an equally significant contribution to the creation of a secular society, just as he has contributed immensely to Kannada literature, he added and then recited a poem on Kuvempu.
