Bagalakote: A bill to introduce population-wise reservation should be introduced in the winter session to be held in Belagavi from December 19. The report should be recommended to the Centre. The Federation of Karnataka State Madiga Organisations State President Muthanna Bennur warned the State Government that the fate of the Congress party in 2018 will be that of the BJP this time as well.

He was speaking at bike rally, which started from Hubballi to Belagavi demanding implementation of internal reservation, arrived at B. R. Ambedkar Circle in Badami on Monday December 12. “As recommended by the Nagamohandas Commission Report, the Scheduled Castes as per the ordinance issued by the State Government will see an increase of 2 per cent. The Sadashiva Commission Report has approved the inclusion of reservation in the 15 per cent reservation in the Cabinet. The Bill should be introduced in the current Winter Session of Belagavi for the implementation of population-wise reservation for 101 Scheduled Caste groups in the 17th reservation,” he noted.

He warned that the anti-reservation MLAs of whichever party obstruct the bill will be taught a lesson in the 2023 Assembly elections.
