Bagalakote: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) District President Ramesh Badnore has demanded that compensation should be announced as per the National Rehabilitation Policy for the people of villages submerged due to raising the height of Alamatti dam to 524 metres.

Addressing a press conference here, he said the Government has so far been providing compensation to the victims of the Upper Krishna Project through executive orders. The ongoing irrigation projects and rehabilitation and reconstruction works under the scheme are not going on satisfactorily, he noted.

In addition, he demanded that the Government should take the lead in providing relief to the victims at Bagalakote as per the National Rehabilitation Policy. A land bank should be set up to allot land to the victims who lose their land in the Upper Krishna Project as followed in the Yettinahole Project, he asserted.
