Covid 3rd wave: Bagalkote Dist strengthens Dist, Taluk Hospitals, CHC

Bagalkote: As Covid – 19 infection is on the rise in the District, and with the intent to curb the spread as well as problems thereon faced by the District Administration and Health Department past two waves, the District this time around has implemented several measures as far as Covid is concerned.

People in general are frustrated as far as facilities in government hospitals are concerned, however here the officials have modified District Hospital including 5 Taluka Hospitals and 8 Community Healthcare Centres (CHC). The staff of hospitals have experience of Covid treatment as well as they are trained to handle Omicron and treatment to children.

As the Covid cases have increased, the Health Officials are all prepared to face the situation. Last time there were only Oxygen for 250 beds but now it has increased to 350 beds. The total ventilators have risen to 40 with inclusion of 10 more. There is a separate section for children now. Ten beds for PICU section too has been introduced, and also NICU for pregnant women who have tested positive. Moreover, the hospital has started oxygen production unit which has capacity of 1000 litres per minute. In all, 40 doctors and 400 other staff are working in the hospital, who will now work without taking any leave.

Also 5 Taluk Hospitals as well as Community Healthcare Centres are well-prepared for Covid surge. They all have required medicines, and minimum 3 ventilators in every hospital and 20 emergency beds in Community Healthcare Centres.

Speaking to News Karnataka District Surgeon Dr. Prakash Biradar said that, ”Bagalkote District Hospital is well-prepared to face the third wave. A separate ward for infected has been set up. In case of rise in Covid cases, we will announce the hospital as Covid Centre only after instructions from the District Administration.

Meanwhile Bagalkote District Health Officer (DHO), Dr. Anant Desai said ,”as Covid third has emerged are prepared to face the situation. We have arranged doctors, beds, and emergency wards among others. All decisions were taken and arrangements were made on the recommendation of experts.”

With the timely preparation people are hopeful that this time not only the people of Bagalkote District but also from other neighbouring districts will get better treatment as compared to last time.
