Bagalakote: As Assembly will be scheduled next year, all the political parties and leaders are conducting rallies, processions, and propagandas to grab the attention of the public on the one hand, while the Agricultural Produce Marketing Committee ( APMC ) duration has been completed but still no notification has been released regarding election as yet on the other hand. Though the tenure of Zilla Panchayat, and Taluk Panchayat has been completed a year ago, the elections for these local bodies have been postponed due to reservation, and redivision.
APMC tenure though was completed in March, the Government is yet to think of conducting election. This move has created fear for ticket aspirants.
The elections need to be held for 6 APMCs namely Bagalakote, Bilagi, Badami, Jamakhandi, Mahalingpura and Hunagunda. The elections will be held in order to form the Management Board. Every APMC has 17 seats including 11 of agricultural sector, 1 TAPCMS, 1 storage of unit, 3 nominal and 1 of Government representative. Particularly, Mahalingpura has been facing a lot of problems. Mahalingpura, Lokapura and Mudhol come under this constituency. As it is divided from Mudhol taluk and included in Rabakavi – Banahatti taluk, there is no APMC at Mudhol, hence Government has ordered for establishment of APMC here. Hence there has been a delay in establishment of APMC at Mudhol.
Speaking to NewsKarnataka APMC Assistant Director H. S. Pattar said, 6 APMC sof the District has completed their tenures. We have submitted report to the Government. Deputy Commissioner and Tahasildar should lookafter the issue. Till today we have not got any official information regarding election from the Government, he asserted.
