Bagalakote: The tough competition for seeking ticket for seven Assembly segments of the District has gained momentum as the polls dates are nearing.

Interestingly, the intensity in lobbying for the ticket is primarily being witnessed in the ruling BJP and the main opposition, Congress. The political activities in the JD (S) for ticket are almost banal and clearly missing.

The top leaders of BJP and the Congress have visited the District to gauge the situation and to select the potential candidates, starting from Badami, the Taluk which is being represented by the Former Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition, Siddaramaiah.

In the last Assembly elections, Siddaramaiah won by a slender margin against B. Sriramulu, the BJP MLA of Molakalmuru Taluk in Chitradurga District. But this time, since Siddaramaiah has expressed desire to contest from Kolar, the number of aspirants for the ticket from Badami has shot up.

Former MLA B. B. Chimmanakatti and his son Bhimsen Chimmanakatti are front runners. Besides them, Mahesh Hosagoudar, M. G. Kittali and Anil Daddi are Congress aspirants. In the BJP, Former MLA M. K. Pattanshetty, S. T. Patil and Mahantesh Mamadapur are seeking tickets. The JD(S) has already declared its District President Hanumanth Mavinmarad as its official candidate.
In Bilagai, the sitting MLA and Industries Minister Murgesh Nirani is expected to get the ticket again. However, the BJP Leader Basavaraj Yenkanchi is also seeking a ticket.

The competition for ticket is tougher in the Congress as many tall leaders have thrown their hat in the ring. They include, Former MLC S. R. Patil, Former MLA J. T. Patil and Party Leaders, Basavaprabhu Sarnadagouda, Basavaraj Khot and M. N. Patil.

For Mudhol which is an SC Reserved Constituency, the sitting MLA and Water Resources Minister Govind Karjol is expected to get the ticket as the party has no other strong candidate. For the Congress Former Minister, R. B. Timmapur and Satish Bandiwoddar are the aspirants.

In Terdal, the aspirants are the sitting MLA Siddu Savadi, Leaders Manohar Shirol and Bhimshi Magdum. Coming to the Congress, the Former Minister Umashri is the strong contender for the ticket. Other than her, those who are seeking ticket are A. R. Belagali, Padmajit Nadagouda, and M. S. Daddenavar. Leaders of the both parties are demanding their respective High Command to offer ticket to new faces as Umashri and Savadi have represented Terdal in the past.

For Hundgund, those who are in the race are sitting MLA of the BJP Doddanagouda Patil, Mahatensh Kadapatti and Viresh Undodi. In the Congress, the front runner is the Former MLA, Vijayananda Kashappanavar. Others who are seeking ticket are Ravindra Kalburgi, and S. R. Navali.

For Bagalakote City, the most strong contender in the BJP is the sitting MLA Veeranna Charantimath, and MLC Siddu Pujari. In the Congress, those who have sought the ticket are Former MLA H. Y. Meti, Ajaykumar Sarnayak, Rakshita Iti and Devaraj Patil.

Lastly, for Jamakhandi Taluk, the ticket for the sitting MLA Anand Nyamagouda is certain from the Congress. In the BJP, Former MLA Srikant Kulkarni, Leaders Mohan Jadhav and Jagadish Gudaganti are also in the race.
