Bagalakote: As the mercury rises in the District everyone including animals are facing health issues. The summer will still be on for next one and a half months and the situation is becoming unbearable. In the beginning of summer hot waves made the people of District suffer. Including places such as Bagalkote, Mudhol, Bilagi, Rabakavi- Banahatti, Jamakhandi, Terdal and other places of the District, the people are not able come out after 9.00 am. People are unable to go to market or to offices. School and college-going students are finding it difficult to attend examinations. Main roads and circles in the City are dull in morning hours.
To safeguard themselves from this heat wave people are rushing to buy earthern pots, juicy fruits, and juices. The price of earthen pots has hiked sky high. Before a medium size pot was priced at Rs. 100 now it is risen upto Rs. 500. Still the buisness is doing well.
Speaking to Newskarnataka paediatrician Dr. Devaraj Patil said that, “From last one week the mercury has risen upto 39° celsius. This heat will affect human beings, especially children. Due to dehydration children are facing health problems such as fever, jaundice, diarrhoea etc. So parents must be cautious. Water, fruit juice, sharbat and tender coconut water should be given to children frequently, he added. He also stressed that parents should not allow children to go out in sunny hours.
Weather expert Praveen Guled said, “During summer every year Bagalkote District sees the highest temperature which goes upto 40°celsius. This is because the District is on the bank of a river. Due the effect of La Nina this year District may have good monsoon.”
