Belagavi: Life is more beautiful when we help others who are in need of support. Here is one good Samaritan in the District who loves to provide for poor children as much as she can.
Cynthia Fernandes, who once worked as Secretary in Dubai, now is settled in Belagavi. She began DOOPTI, a small cottage enterprise in 2015 with one lady and a sewing machine. But now, she has over five ladies and more than seven sewing machines. They together make handmade quilts, petbeds, table accessories, goody bags, curtains, bedspreads and pillows.
Speaking to NewsKarnataka Cynthia Fernandes said, “When I was in need, many hands helped me and this inspired me to do this work. I have been doing this for 30 years. This really gives me immense pleasure.”
She says, when she donates jackets, tiffin bags, school bags, and water bottles to children which they have never seen before brings a huge smile to their faces, and a real satisfaction to her.
When she approached women with this sewing idea they were also very cooperative. The items that Cynthia donates are sent by her friends from Dubai. She selects the school, college, and families to whom she is going to distribute. Her family also supports her whole-heartedly in her good work towards society.
