Belagavi: The Lokayukta has arrested two persons, including the Channamma Kittur Tahasildar, for allegedly accepting a bribe to convert a plot of land from father’s name to son’s name.
Channamma Kittur Tahasildar Somalingappa Halagi and Office Land Reforms Manager Prasanna G. were arrested by the Lokayukta officials who raided the spot while accepting the bribe.
Kittur Tahasildar Somalingappa Halagi who demanded the bribe from Rajendra Bapusaheb Inamdar of Khodanapur Village in Kittur Taluk was paid Rs. 5 lakh for changing the khata in the pahani paper.
He demanded a blank cheque for the amount of Rs. 20 lakh sanctioned for registration of 10 acres of land and its surety.
Lokayukta officials conducted a raid and took into custody the Tahasildar and 100 officials while accepting a bribe of Rs. 2 lakh and a blank cheque on Friday November 25.
