Belagavi: On Tuesday December 21, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has said that, of the 470 arterial and sub-arterial roads in Bengaluru, 311 roads running into 834 kilometres were free from potholes by December 10.
“The remaining 159 roads are currently being repaired,” said CM Bommai, who is also the Bengaluru City Development Minister in response to a question posed in the Legislative Council by MLC and Former Bengaluru Mayor P. R. Ramesh. He promised to finish the ongoing asphalting of 180-kilometer roads.
He informed that about 100 kilometres of roads are being white-topped, with another 30 kilometres being developed under the TenderSURE model. CM Bommai further said that steps were being taken to select private contractors for maintaining roads in all 198 wards of the BBMP through tenders.
He noted that since 2015-16, Rs. 20,060 crore in grants have been given to the BBMP for road construction and related infrastructure projects.
