Dharwad: The Congress has failed utterly in fulfilling the assurances made during last assembly elections on taking action against illegal mining, land acquisition and other issues plaguing  the state, alleged Samaj Parivartan Samudaya (SPS) chief and social activist SR Hiremath.

Speaking to reporters here on Monday Hiremath felt that days of Siddaramaiah government are numbered, as he has failed to keep up his promises made during elections.

Taking exception on government’s slow pace in taking action against Shyam Bhat, former Commissioner of BDA and others involved in irregularities in the allocation of 1319 Civic Amenities Sites (CA) in Bengaluru Hiremath urged minister KJ George and CM Siddaramaiah to expedite the sanction for prosecution of Shyam Bhat.

While terming the formation of Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) was an mere eyewash by the government Hiremath said the Lokayuktha institution in the state has remained headless since six months and more than 2300 cases are pending before it. CM and his government have become hurdle in appointing new Lokayuktha, he added.

The government was deliberately delaying the sanction to file FIR in a case pending since six months, where Shyam Bhat is a prime-accused, he alleged.

Campaign

To press for the justice the Jana Sangram Parishat in association with like minded organizations are planning for a comprehensive campaign “Lokayukta Ulisi Mattu Bhrastaranna Jailige Kalisi”, and a meeting will be held in Bengaluru on Jan 5, 2017 to finalise the programme, he said.
