Dharwad: The University of Agricultural Sciences (UAS), Dharwad has added another feather in its crown by receiving the prestigious 24th Dewang Mehta National Education Award for the year 2016. On the occasion Vice Chancellor Dr. D P Biradar also received the award on behalf of the university.
The Dewang Mehta National Education Award is India’s largest educational award for which a contest was held on the side lines of World Marketing Congress in Mumbai. The award recognises talent and leadership among the educational institutions across India. It is in recognition of leadership, development, innovation and industry interface of institutes that the award is given. The award is in the memory of great IT Guru to Government of India and many state governments, Shri Dewang Mehta who was head of NASSCOM during 1991-2001, an association dedicated to the needs of fledging Indian software industry.
The award is instituted in the memory of this IT prodigy, who died at a young age of 40 years.
The Dr. D P Biradar received the prestigious award from Dr. Harish Mehta and Dr. Prasad Medury of the BSchool Affaire recently held in Mumbai.
The Dewang Mehta National Education Award carries a trophy, citation and a certificate of merit judged by an independent jury comprising the CEOs of Business Schools and Heads of HR Departments. The criteria for selection of award winners are the primary data, perception of students, the passed out alumni who are holding various positions in the country. Social media is also used to identify the professionals and academicians from the institutes.
