Dharwad: A week-long exhibition of Mysuru silk saris, organised by Karnataka Silk Industries Corporation (KSIC), began at Bhavasar Mangal Karyalaya in Dharwad.

The expo, which will last till December 4 was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner S.B. Bommanahalli.

The KSIC, which celebrated its centenary year last year, has announced a discount of 15 – 20 per cent on silk clothes. Over 2,000 varieties and designs of silk saris are available on sale.

The collection includes designer collections of kasuti embroidery saris, georgettes, plain and printed saris, silk tops, scarves, shirts, ties, dress materials and others. KSIC has come up with latest designs including Mysore Silk zari saris, printed and plain silk saris, elegant digital printed saris, gorgeous wedding collections and alluring designer wear saris that are both traditional and modern. Silk dhotis, vallis, salwar material and silk shirts are also on display.

“Mysuru silk saris have gained recognition world over and have found a place in branded emporiums across the world. The Mysore silks were earlier promoted by the Kings of Mysore and KSIC has continued this legacy,” said KSIC Marketing Manager Bhanuprakash.

“Saris ranging from Rs. 12,500 to Rs. 1.20 lakh were on sale at the expo. EMI facilities are made available for the government staff,” he said adding that the Karnataka Silk Industries Corporation would launch its online sale in a month.
