Dharwad: Karnatak University, Dharwad (KUD), has filed a complaint with Dharwad Sub-urban Police station, urging the department to investigate into issuance of fake marks card and certificate to 58 students from Odisha.
In a compliant, the University Registrar N.Y. Mattihal alleged that some persons have misused the logo and name of the university to issue fake certificates of B.Ed to the students. After an internal enquiry into the matter by the university, it was decided to seek action against the culprits to prevent further misuse of the University’s name and logo.
The issuance of fake marks card and certificate came to light after one of the students, Gununidhi Sahu, wrote back to the University demanding confirmation of receiving the degree certificate. However, University Registrar (Evaluation) N Y Mattihal informed Sahu that the register number he had sent was not recorded with the university, and moreover the university does not issue distance education certificate for B.Ed.
The University was forced to go to the police after they started receiving several such complaints from students getting fake degrees from the University.
Meanwhile the Registrar informed media that along with misusing the name and logo of KUD, the miscreants have also misused the name of the State government.”We have informed the Education Department, besides writing a letter to Odisha government informing them about the racket. KUD only imparts BA, B.Com and M.Com distance education courses”, he said.
