Dharwad: Leaders and members of JD(S) district unit on Wednesday held protest in front of Deputy Commissioner’s office in Dharwad, enraged over state government’s blunder, for omitting the name of former Prime Minister HD Devegowda, while referring the names in the President’s speech on the occasion of Diamond jubilee celebrations of Vidhana Soudha.
The protesters alleged that the government had intentionally omitted the name of Devegowda, in the President’s speech thereby, not following protocol. “It is an insult meted out to the son of soil and JD(S) supremo who in his capacity as the Prime Minister and Chief Minister has contributed a lot for the overall development of the land,” they said.
Condemning the act of government, the protesters raised slogans and warned the state government to desist from doing so in future.
JD(S) leaders Gururaj Hunashimarad, Gangadhar Patil Kulkarni, Rajanna Koravi, Altaf Kittur among others took part in the protest.
