Dharwad: To introduce transparency and discipline in the functioning of the taluk office, the district administration has installed surveillance cameras at the tahsildar’s office, much to the joy of people.
As part of the scheme, Deputy Commissioner S B Bommanahalli inaugurated the newly installed CCTV cameras at the Dharwad taluk office.
The farmers and the poor, who come to the tahsildar’s office for various government works, have often complained that the middlemen menace was on the rise in the office and this was affecting their day-to-day work. They have, time and again, asked the district administration to weed out the middlemen and curtail their activities.
Accordingly, the district administration has decided to install CCTV cameras in and around the tahsildar’s office and facilitate discipline in the work.
DC Bommanahalli said that these cameras would help in delivering good administration to the people as the higher officials could directly monitor the work of the staff there.
A total of 25 CCTV cameras are being installed in the tahsildar’s office at a cost of Rs 3 Lakh. Surveillance cameras have been installed at the main entrance, the tahsildar’s main office, staff room, food and land departments, engineering wing, KRL wing, record room and other working areas.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Ibrahim Maigur, Assistant Commissioner Mahesh Karjagi, Revenue Inspector Sridhar, Tahsilar Prakash Kudari and others were among those present.
