Gadag: Hundreds of people crowded at an Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) market in Gadag district to buy essential commodities on Saturday, March 28. This incident occurred at a time when governments all over the country and the world are insisting that people follow social distancing to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

People were seen standing in large groups near fruit and vegetable vendors for purchasing in the morning, some even haggling for a good rate.

Meanwhile, Dakshina Kannda was put under complete lockdown on Saturday. Only milk, and medicines were available for the people to purchase. Hospitals and pharmacies were the only establishments that were open in the district.

The entire country went into a 21-day lockdown on March 25. The lockdown was enforced to stop the spread of coronavirus.
