Gadag: Grama Swarajya is dearest to our hearts. We are working for this since many years, said Deenadayal Research Institute General Secretary Dr. Atul Jain.
He was speaking at one-day workshop with topic ‘Grama Swarajya: Chintane Mattu Sankalpa’ at Karnataka State Rural Development and Panchayat Raj University here on Sunday April 24. He said, “We are witnessing ‘E – swaraj Rajya’ (State of Lord). According to us Swarajya is not authority. Self-administration is important in in Swarajya.”
“As per Deenadayala Pandit Swarajya plays an important role in the development of the society and nation. Common man thinks swarajya is restricted to 73rd and 74th Panchayat Raj Act book of Karnataka. Swarajya is dependent on our individual behaviour. We are happy to see India’s image of development in this stage programme,” he noted.
KSRDPRU Vice Chancellor Prof. Vishnukanth. S. Chatapalli in his presidential remarks, said, “University’s objective and the activities being carried in the university are similar. It includes Rural Development and Panchayat Raj as well. Our university has been being established on Panchayat Raj thoughts and it has secured its uniqueness in State. Rural roots and global heights is our slogan.”
Further he noted, in any situation we never forget our roots as well as the path which we have travelled. Generally in universities the concentration will be on one particular issue where as in our university one gets to witness education, research and training programmes conducted under single roof.
KSRDPRU Registrar Prof. Basavaraj. L. Lakkannavar welcomed guest for the event. Prefatory remarks were made by Prajna Pravah South Central coordinator Raghunandan.
Earlier, floral tribute was paid to Indian Constitution and Bharat Mata.
At the Sabaramati Ashram floral tribute was paid to Mahatma Gandhi.
After the stage programme three sessions were held. In the first session, academicians, practitioners and outreach teams participated. In the second session, teamwise paper presentation was held and in the third and last session open discussion took place.
At the end of the event Padma Shri awardee, agriculturist Abdul Khader Nadakattin was felicitated. The vote of thanks was delivered by Workshop Coordinator Dr. Santosh Shetty.
