Gadag: Coming down heavily on the state government for withdrawal of conservation reserve tag for Kappatagudda in Gadag district, veteran writer Dr. Patil Puttappa has warned the government of dire consequences.
Reacting on the issue, he has urged the state government to continue the conservation reserve tag for Kappatagudda and not allow the industrialists to loot the wealth in this reserve forest region.
The authorities including the chief minister and his cabinet could harm the existence of Kappatagudda which is a home for variety of flora and fauna, he opined. “Kappatagudda plays a vital role in maintaining ecological equilibrium in this region. Withdrawal of conservation reserve tag for Kappatagudda is a dangerous move. If the government does not take proper measures to conserve this forest area, it will have to face ire from the people”, he warned.
Philanthropists have already launched struggle in this regard and no one can stop it, he stated.
Gadag Tontadarya Matt’s Siddalinga Swamiji alleged that the state government had withdrawn conservation reserve tag for Kappatagudda at the behest of mining companies. Required preparations are being made to launch a legal battle against the government’s decision, he stated.
