Haveri: In a heart-rending incident, three members of a family including a mother, son and pregnant daughter-in-law, resorted to suicide by hanging themselves at Agadi Village in the District on Thursday December 22.
The deceased have been identified as Bharathi Kamadolli (40), Kiran (21) and Soujanya (20). The incident came to light when Bharathi’s husband, Virupakshappa Kamadolli, who had gone to work, returned in the evening.
His eldest son Kiran had got married a few months ago and daughter-in-law Soujanya was pregnant. Another son, Arun, is said to be in love with a girl from the same village. When the girl’s side objected to it, Arun left home with the girl he fell in love with.
It is alleged that the girl’s side of the family began harassing the boy’s side. The villagers suspect that the three may have resorted to suicide as they were fed up with the torture.
A case has been registered at Haveri Rural Police Station.
