Haveri: Enraged customer sets bank on fire for rejecting loan

Haveri: A customer set bank on fire on the intervening night of Saturday January 8 and Sunday January 9 for rejecting his loan request at  Hediggonda in Byadgi Taluk of the District.

The accused has been identified as Wasim Hajratsab Mulla (33), a native of Rattehalli. It is said that Mulla had appealed to Canara Bank manager to provide Rs. One Lakh as loan. However, his request was rejected, following which an enraged Mulla reached the bank around 2.00 am on Sunday on a bike with petrol can. He poured the petrol through window and set it on fire.

The neighbours who witnessed the incident, caught the culprit red-handed and handed him over to the police.

Fire personnel rushed to the spot, extinguished fire, and averted major tragedy. Police informed that the currency notes are safe in strong room and only computers, currency counting machines, furnitures and such other assets have been damaged in the fire. Kaginele Police have arrested the accused and registered a case.
