Rahul, Siddaramaiah announce special package for distressed farmers

Haveri: Chief minister Siddaramaiah announced a special package of interest waiver on farm loans along with various sops for farmers at a rally in Haveri in the presence of Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi here on October 10.
 Rahul, State Govt to announce special package for farmers today-4Speaking on the occasion CM said, ” we have implemented several pro-farmer schemes. We are providing interest-free loans to farmers. Congress always stands in support of poor and the farmers. BJP is spreading rumours against state government”, he said.

While announcing different sops for farmers CM said, “the compensation to the kin of the deceased farmers have been increased from Rs 3 lakhs to Rs 5 lakhs. It is applicable for farm labourers too. The widows of deceased farmers will get monthly pension of Rs 2000. Also the state government will bear the educational expenses of the children of the deceased farmers till post-graduation. They will also get insurance under the Arogya Laxmi scheme.”

Rahul Gandhi speaking on the occasion said, “Modi has no time for poor and farmers. Central government is discriminating on karnataka farmers. BJP do not consider Karnataka farmers as Indian farmers. Farmers and poor across the nation are suffering due to drought. Modi talks about Make In India but sadly he never talks about farmers woes.”, he said.

Earlier Rahul Gandhi who is on two-day Karnataka visit on the agrarian crisis had discussed a relief package for farmers with a group of ministers and state party leaders.
