K’taka Assembly introduces 3 bills including 2 varsity bills

Belagavi: Three bills including two university bills were introduced in Karnataka Assembly here on Thursday December 16.

The State Government introduced three bills that included AYUSH University Bill and University of Visvesvaraya College of Engineering Bill. The AYUSH University at Shivamogga is aimed at developing a university of excellence in the areas of Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, Sowa Rigpa and Homoeopathy systems of medicine. There entails an approximate expenditure of Rs 20 crore by utilising the existing facilities in the AYUSH College. Through University of Visvesvaraya College of Engineering Bill, the Government plans to upgrade the varsity and grant autonomy with a view to empower the institution to attain standards of global excellence in Engineering and allied areas of knowledge. For both, no extra expenditure is involved at the stage, the Government stressed.

Further, The Government also introduced the Karnataka State Civil Services (Regulation of Transfer of Teachers) (Second Amendment) Bill to ensure transparency and equitable opportunities in transfers of principals or lecturers of pre-university colleges. Also the bill aims at ensuring availability of lecturers in rural areas, the Government added.
