Belagavi: Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri, the Speaker of the Karnataka Assembly, defended the suspension of 12 opposition members from the session by Rajya Sabha Chairman, citing their behaviour was not in accordance with parliamentary discipline.
Speaking to mediapersons on Wednesday December 2, he informed that members of the Legislative Houses are expected to follow rules of procedure and maintain discipline. “What is happening in the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha is a painful development,” he said. Kageri also mentioned that members should avoid they should ensure a high standard of attendance and participate in discussions by putting forward constructive, pro-people issues.
According to sources, he further stated that the dates for the Karnataka legislature’s winter session were set only after the Technical Advisory Committee recommended that the session be held. “All Covid-19 protocol would be followed,” he added.
