Belagavi: Deputy Chief Minister Govind Karjol has stated that the two persons who died in the police firing in Mangaluru are not innocent.

His statement is likely to lead to another round of controversies and accusations between the ruling BJP and the Congress leaders.

Speaking to reporters in Belagavi in support of the Mangaluru police, he stated that they fired only at those who were involved in criminal and anti-national activities.

“The Congress has been involved in caste and communal politics in the country for the past seven decades. It has resulted in this kind of violence across the country. We need to protect the borders of this country,” he said.

Stating that Belagavi will always be part of Karnataka, he said, “Maharastra’s politicians must understand that Karnataka will never allow anyone to snatch Belagavi from the state.”
