Vijayapura: Under the leadership of various seers and leaders of different communities, the ‘Padayatra’ demanding justice for North Karnataka region, took off from Basavanabagewadi on Tuesday.

The ‘Bengaluru Chalo’ padyatra has been launched by Uttar Karnataka Raitara Abhiruddhi Sangha, led by its president Yasin Jawali. The rally is backed by many people who believe that the NK region has always got the least amount of development plans

The leaders assert that their rally is completely apolitical, they have also urged the people not to attach any politics with their event as they are holding the programme only for the welfare and development of North Karnataka region. The organizer made it clear that their demand is only development and not separate statehood.

The leaders said that historically, North Karnataka region has been neglected by all the successive governments as this region has not been given its due share in various sectors, including agriculture, irrigations, industries, tourism, health etc.

As per their plan, the rally would reach Bengaluru within 37 days, upon reaching, they will continue their agitation in Bengaluru till they get concrete assurance.

“Since it is for the welfare of NK region, we will not call off our agitation till our demand is met, we will not make any compromise in this regard”, they asserted.
