Vijayapura: Former Prime Minister and JD (S) Supremo H. D. Deve Gowda has made it clear that the outcome of the Sindagi and Hanagal byeleciton is not the indicator to the outcome of upcoming Assembly polls in 2023.

Speaking to media persons on Wednesday October 13 before heading to Sindagi to campaign for the party’s candidate, Naziya Angadi, he said that, “The byelection does not determine the future of any political party. We have seen in the past that while byelections give different results and the results in general election is different.”

To a question, Deve Gowda made it clear that JD (S) has no pact with any other political party as of now. However he also added that nothing can be said about the future. He gave indication that the party may have an alliance with any other political party in future.

Referring to the Sindagi byelection, he said that he would stay in Sindagi for about a week to campaign for the candidate. “I will however desist from holding any public meetings. I will try to visit rural areas to interact with farmers and youth to convey the message of the party,” he said.

Deve Gowda said that he will work with his full zeal for the coming Assembly polls of 2023 where he will tour the State for the victory of the party’s candidates.

Replying to the allegations that JD (S) has been neglecting North Karnataka region, he refuted the allegations claiming that he gave many projects to this region when he was Chief Minister and Prime Minister.

“But unfortunately, the public memory is short. Not only the general public, but even our own leaders have forgotten the party’s contribution to North Karnataka region,” he lamented.

MLA Bandeppa Khashampur, Devanand Chavan, District President, Mallikarjun Yendigeri, and Candidate Naziya Angadi and other leaders were present.
