Vijayapura: Claiming that the BJP candidate will register a thumping victory in Sindagi bypolls, BJP State Vice President, B. Y. Vijayendra said that both the Congress and the JD(S) are fighting only for their political survival in the polls.
Addressing media persons on Friday October 22 before participating in the campaign to seek votes for the party candidate Ramesh Bhusnur at Almel town, he said that during the counting the leaders of both parties will not stay for too long. “I can say with confidence that the candidates and the leaders of both the parties will vacate the counting place very soon as they will be aware of losing the polls,” he said.
On Congress and JD(S) raising RSS issue in the campaign, Vijayendra said that he would not like to respond to such irresponsible allegations. “I would like to focus only on the development aspect and seek votes on that basis only,”, he said.
Admitting that the party did not have a strong base in K. R. Pete and Sira Taluk bypolls, he said that the party never won election in these two constituencies. “We held extensive campaigns in these places to strengthen the party at booth level. But the situation is not the same in Sindagi as we already have a strong base as our candidate has won twice in the past,” he said.
Expressing confidence of the party’s victory in the polls, he said that the people are supporting the party as they are aware of the fact that BJP is ruling in the State, thus victory of the party candidate helps in bringing more development works.
Vijayendra will stay for two days in the region to campaign for the candidate, during which he will hold public meetings and participate in the road shows.
