Vijayapura: Admitting that the Covid cases are gradually rising in the State, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai however made it clear that the situation is not alarming and there is no need to panic.

“The situation is under control and we have not reached any condition where we require mass hospitalisation, and therefore people need not to panic. However, we must continue to follow Covid protocols while wearing masks and maintaining social distancing,” he said.

He was addressing mediapersons at Kodganuru helipad near Talikota town before attending Peerapura-Budihal lift irrigation foundation laying programme on Tuesday April 26.

On taking necessary precautions at the bordering areas of the State in order to prevent the spreading of Covid pandemic, Bommai said that the final call will be taken only after the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s meeting, which will be held shortly.

“After the meeting, the decision will also be taken to intensify the vigil at the airports and border areas of the State,” he said.

With regard to Cabinet expansion, he made it clear that no final decision has been taken yet. He said that High Command will give green signal on it, and therefore until then no decision will be taken.

On demand of each district to have at least one Cabinet Minister, Bommai said that he will try to give one ministry to each district.

Ministers, Govind Karjol, Umesh Katti, MP Ramesh Jigajinagi, MLAs Somanagouda Patil Sasanur, A. S. Patil Nadahalli, Basanagouda Patil Yatnal and several party leaders were present.
