Vijayapura: Farmers in the District here on Sunday January 16 threw vegetables, Fenugreek leaves and coriander leaves on streets as a mark of protest against police for not allowing to sell their produces.

It is said that police personnel chased farmers for selling vegetables on footpath claiming week end curfew. But farmers alleged that the government itself  permitted them to sell agriculture produces and there is no restriction for movement of vegetable vehicles.

When contacted Vijayapura Superintendent of Police Anand Kumar said that there will be no restriction to sell essentials, and that he would instruct police not to disturb farmers.
