Vijayapura: After getting a magnificent Mughal Garden, musical fountain and theme park developed at Almatti dam, the Krishna Bhagya Jal Nigam Limited (KBJNL) is now venturing into development of a mega amusement and water park near the dam site. The work which has already started in around 2.5 acre land is another feather in the cap as far as the region is concerned.

Believed to be the biggest such amusement park of the North Karnataka region being developed by the government, the Almatti dam site already has some major attractions for the visitors which includes Italian park, French park, Luv-Kush park, Krishna theme park and rock garden, besides boating facility. Now, considering the demand for water park and water sports facilities as the dam has abundant water, KBJNL has decided to get a water park developed here.

“We have already started the civil works of the project in 2.5 acre land behind the helipad of the dam site. The project is estimated to be worth Rs. 10 crore. The funds will be used for all civil works and installation of various water facilities,” said Almatti Division Chief Engineer H. Suresh.

Elaborating on the project, he said that the project is based on six different themes. “The park will have separate water facilities for children and women. It will have water slides, swimming pool, lazy river, recreation bathing, wave pond etc. Besides these, waiting halls, ticket counter, locker rooms, bathrooms, canteen and first-aid centre will also be set up,” he said.

Claiming that the park is expected to be completed within a year, Suresh said that it would be the first phase of the project. Based on the public response and the success, the project will be extended in coming days by adding more features. The project will not only generate revenue for the government, but will also generate employment opportunities for people, he added.
