Vijayapura: MP Ramesh Jigajinagi has said that the Railway Overbridge work at Ibrahimpura area would be completed within a couple of months.

Addressing mediapersons on Saturday February 12 during his visit to the overbridge site, he said that he has directed the contractors to complete the works within a couple of months.

Admitting that the works got delayed because of the Covid pandemic, he said that he however does not want the works to get delayed any further.

“I know the fact of how many problems the commuters are facing, therefore I have asked the contractor to complete the work within the stipulated time,” he said.

On the demand for an underpass near Vajrahanuman Nagar Railway crossing, he said that he had asked the Railway Officials and the District Administration to find out a suitable site for constructing an underpass.

“Underpass is essential but since the officials could not find the suitable land, they were delaying the construction. Now as the site has been identified, we will make efforts to get the underpass built by ensuring adequate funds,” he said.

With regard to the removal of the Toll Booth of NHAI located near Agriculture College, Jigajinagi said that he was trying to find some solution to it. Many people have been complaining that the booth is located within the City limit which according to the norms is wrong.

“Many people have already brought the matter to my notice but since there are some legal issues, the booth presently cannot be shifted away from the City limits. However I will try to find some solution to it,” he said.

Answering to a question, he said that he has written a letter to the Central Government to include Vijayapura City into the list of Smart City. “The State Government too has identified some eight cities including Vijayapura and has sent the proposal to the Central Government for developing Smart City,” he said.

On the political front, he made it clear that since Basavaraj Bommai is working fine as the Chief Minister, he does not want him to be replaced.

“However it is the final decision of the High Command on this issue. I have also appealed to the party leaders not to talk on internal party matters on public platforms,” he said.

Former MLA Appu Pattanshetty was also present.
