Vijayapura: Accusing former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of using AHINDA as a step to raise himself politically but not to raise the voice of AHINDA or to help the backward communities, BJP State President Nalin Kumar Kateel has claimed that the BJP does not believe in merely making use of backward communities as its vote bank.

Speaking after inaugurating the State-level Working Committee Meeting of OBC Morcha of the party on Tuesday October 5, he said that after becoming CM, Siddaramaiah forgot the community.

“There are many leaders in the Congress such as Siddaramaiah who floated AHINDA concept only to make use of the community for their political gains. When they achieved their goal, they deserted the same community that supporting them,” Kateel said.

He also accused Siddaramaiah of not showing any sympathy with the families for the death of over 20 BJP workers who were from backward communities.

“He did not even offer any relief money to the families of the deceased. This is the concern of Siddaramaiah for the people of backward communities,” he said.

He claimed that the BJP Government has been working for the welfare of all backward communities as it believes in taking all sections of the society along.

He said that the BJP Government set a record by appointing 27 MPs of OBC category as Ministers in the Central Government. Kateel said that no party in the past gave so much political representation to OBCs in the government formation.

He also claimed that the country is prospering because it has Prime Minister Narendra Modi who comes from a backward community.

Terming Congress as a sinking ship, he said that the party has riddled with internal differences. Since the party has two power centres (one of Siddaramaiah group and another of D. K. Shivakumar group), till today, the party has failed to hold a full-fledged working committee meeting.

On the occasion, Kateel exuded confidence of winning by-elections of Sindgi and Hangal.

In his address, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister, K. S. Eshwarappa accused the Congress of not releasing the data of caste census, during its government and also during the coalition government with the JD (S).

Claiming that the BJP Government is committed to the welfare of backward communities, he said that the Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has also assured of allocating more funds for their welfare in the budget.

Minister Kota Srinivas Pujari, MLAs Somanagouda Patil Sasnur, Basanagouda Patil Yatnal, former MLA, Appu Pattanshetty, leaders including Vijugouda Patil and office bearers of the OBC Morcha were present.
