Vijayapura: Often we get to read about the children helping needy people with the money collected in piggy banks. Three siblings of the City have added their names among some phototropic children for using the small savings to donate painting and drawing materials to various poor students.

Revanna Donagi, Aishwarya Donagi and Bhagyashree Donagi, the siblings have decided to use the money collected in their piggy banks for this noble cause. The siblings, who are children of teacher Srimanth Donagi, claim that they have money received from various cash prizes they won in different competitions and money given by their relatives for their piggy bank.

“I have collected around Rs. 76,400, my sister  Bhagyashree has Rs.32,600 and another sister Aishwarya has collected around Rs. 26,200. We now have a total of around Rs.1,35,200. We will use this money in buying painting materials which we want to donate to orphan and poor children,” said Revanna Donagi.

Studying in class 6 in a private school here, Revanna said that it was his father who is also a teacher, who encouraged the siblings to donate the art materials to poor and orphan children.

“The reason for selecting art material for donation is because most of the children love drawing and painting. We too love paintings. We have enough money and our parents buy art material for us but poor and orphan children can’t afford to buy. Therefore we thought of providing some painting materials to the children with our little savings,” he said.

Revanna said that they purchased objects such as drawing sheets, pencils, erasers, crayon boxes, colour boxes etc. for donation.

Recently, the children participated in the programme where they donated the materials to many children in the Government School of Kakhandaki Village.

The staff of the school also honoured the siblings during the event. The teachers appreciated the work of the siblings and hoped that the other children would also get inspiration from them.
