Vijayapura: Taking strong exception to the statement of State BJP President Nalin Kumar Kateel who has called Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi as drug peddler and drug addict, AICC General Secretary, Randeep Surjewala has termed BJP a party that is power-drunk and drugged with arrogance.
Addressing media persons on the sidelines of campaigning for party candidate, Ashok Managuli in Balaganur Village of Sindgi taluk on Tuesday October 19, he wondered whether Kateel had consumed some of the drugs seized from Adani-owned port in Gujarat. “Perhaps he has consumed some drug seized recently from port which is why he is making such imbecile, foolish and irresponsible statements,” he said.
Stating that Kateel has lost mental balance, Surjewala said that Kateel should be immediately admitted to a drug rehabilitation centre.
Earlier addressing a public gathering, he described JD (S) as a ‘B’ team of BJP. He said that the JDS has fielded candidates in bypolls not to win but to defeat the Congress and help the BJP.
“Since JD (S) is the party which is there to help the BJP, the tickets of the party’s candidates are finalised at the BJP Head Office in Delhi,” he said.
Replying to the advice of the JD (S) Supremo H. D. Deve Gowda that national parties such as the Congress must take regional parties along to fight against the BJP at national level, Surjewala claimed that most of the regional parties are with the Congress. He however accused the JD (S) of working only for the benefit of the BJP. “The JD (S) must clear its stand whether it is with the BJP or with the nation”, he said.
Holding the Modi government responsible for price rise, he alleged that the Modi government has opened import of Toor Dal till January 2021 only to bring down prices of tooor in the country which will adversely affect the toor farmers.
He appealed to the voters to vote for the Congress.
