Three Kannadiga labourers die by suicide in Goa, probe sought

Nalatwad: Three family members of Sultanpur village who were living in Vasco in Goa, have allegedly died of suicide on the night of June 29, according to reports.

The reports said that the migrant workers of the village were residing in a rented house in Juwari Nagar in Vasco of Goa. The deceased have been identified as Hulagappa Ambiger (35) his wife Devamma (28) and his brother Gangappa (29). All three have been found dead as their bodies were found hanging.

The preliminary reports suggest that the three might have died by suicide, however further reports are awaited.

It is said that the family was living in Goa for the last several years after migrating from their village in search of better living. They were working as daily wage workers.

According to reports reaching here, Shamshuddin, the owner of the house had accused the family of stealing gold and cash kept in his house. It is alleged that the family was being harassed by the owner, which the family could not take and resorted to suicide.

Meanwhile, Siddanna Meti, President of Akhila Karnataka Goa Kannadigara Horata Samiti has demanded a detailed probe in the matter. He along with other social activists have met the police officials of Goa and have sought their help in getting justice for Kannadigas.

Meanwhile Varna Police station in Juwari Nagar of Vasco has registered a case.
