Vijayapura: An order has been issued from the State Government to increase the monthly honorarium of the elected representatives. However, Vijayapura-Bagalakote Local Bodies Upper House MLA Sunilgowda Patil said that the increase has not been as expected.

In a statement, he stated , “I have raised my voice many times inside and outside the House of Parliament to provide facilities to the people’s representatives on the lines of Kerala. Now, the State Government has issued an order increasing the honorarium. But the honorarium increased in the said order is like a half-penny buttermilk given to a glutton, he added.

“GP President has been given an honorarium of Rs. 3,000, Vice-President Rs. 2,000 and members Rs 1,000. Now the government will give Rs. 6,000 to the President, Rs. 4,000 to the Vice-President and Rs. 2,000 to the members. This is not right, asserted Sunilgowda.

On the Kerala model, Rs. 13,000 should be given to the President, Rs. 10,000 to the Vice-President and Rs 7,000 to the members. Monthly honorarium should also be given, he stated and warned the State Government that if the Government does not respond, he will continue the agitation again.
