Vijayapura: Expressing concern over the increasing trend of trying to impose majoritarian culture in India which is pluralistic in nature, Former Speaker and veteran Congress leader, K. R. Ramesh Kumar said that it has now become inevitable to protest against any effort of imposing a majoritarian system.

Speaking on the present issues organised by Rashtriya Souharda Vedike here, he said that after BJP coming to power in the country efforts are being made to kill the religious, cultural and linguistic diversity of the country and impose one culture, one rule, one leader and language.

Certainly it is not in the best interest of the country and every responsible citizen must oppose it in every possible manner to keep the pluralistic nature of the country alive, he said.

He said that those who have read the history of India, know very well that those who actually participated in the freedom movement against British rule and who remain silent or even clandestinely supported the British.

“The forefathers of such organisations who never sacrificed their lives for the freedom of this country, are not pretending to be the biggest nationalists. They have no right to teach nationalism to anybody”, he said while criticising Sangh Parivar which was accused of working for the British rather than India during the freedom struggle.

Holding Sangh Parivar responsible for the division of India, he said that Pariwar fought for Hindu nation and not a pluralistic nation.

The brave leaders such as Bhagat Singh, Subhash Chandra Bose and many others gave supreme sacrifice for the country, but Hindu fanatics instead of fighting against British rule, they fought against Indian leaders such as Mahatma Gandhi and killed him.

Activist, G. S. Patil also spoke.
