Vijayapura: BJP Leader and President of Karnataka State Seed and Organic Certification Agency Vijugouda Patil has accused Congress MLA of Babaleshwara Constituency, M. B. Patil of inducing the people by distributing materials to invite them to the party’s “Prajadhwani’ programme to be held on February 22.
Addressing mediapersons on Monday, he said that the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Campaign Committee President has been distributing sarees and mobile phones among the people of Babaleshwar while inviting them to the event. “I am asking him, if he has real faith in the people of his Constituency that they will attend the event just by giving one call, then what is the need of resorting to inducements? What is the need of distributing sarees and mobile phones”, he said while displaying one of the sarees claimed to have been given by Patil to the people of Babaleshwar.
He also alleged that the mobile phone has also been distributed. However, he failed to show any such phones to corroborate his claims.
Accusing Patil of rarely visiting Babaleshwar Constituency in the last four and a half years, Vijugouda said that despite losing against Patil in the three elections, he has kept contact with the people of Babaleshwar.
“I have kept regular contact with the people of Babaleshwar Constituency. They have been showering love and affection on me,” he said.
Asked why he is not filing any case against Patil if he thinks what is being done is wrong, Vijugouda merely said that he is already exposing Patil through the media.
He said that Patil has resorted to inducements because he is now scared of losing elections. “I have lost elections against him thrice, but this time I am very much confident that the people of Babaleshwar will not get fooled and they will certainly defeat Patil,”, he said.
Asked whether he is confident of getting the ticket again as he has been successively losing the elections against Patil, Vijugouda said that it is left to the discretion of the party to offer him a ticket.
