Vijayapura: Pro-Hindu organisations have submitted a memorandum to MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal, who is also the President of Sri Siddheshwara Samstha, demanding a ban on Muslim traders at the City Sri Siddheshwara Fair to be held on Sankranti.

The clamour for religion-based trade in fairs and festivals, which had led to large-scale religious riots in many parts of the State, now seems to be entering Vijayapura District as well. During the Jatra Utsava Samiti meeting held on Wednesday Decembet 7, a memorandum was submitted to Basanagouda Patil Yatnal, under the leadership of Neelakanta Kandagal of Sri Rama Sene, demanding a ban on Muslims for Vijayapura Sri Siddheshwara fair.

The Committee members appealed to Muslims not to set up shops and stalls at the Sri Siddheshwar fair.
