Vijayapura: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President D. K. Shivakumar on Saturday December 31said that the announcement of 2C for Vokkaligas and 2D quota for Lingayats was a ploy to create confusion and thus a clever move by the Government.

Addressing a press conference in the City on Saturday he said there is no clarity in the Government on who will benefit from the new reservation, and who will be disadvantaged. He said it was the Government’s prerogative to create a legal hurdle on the issue of reservation.

He further questioned, “how can the 10 per cent OBC reservation be removed? What will be the fate of the communities there if they are removed from the OBC? Whatever work is done must be Constitutional and legal. After all, is it possible to get a supplementary statement from the leaders of the respective communities on the reservation announced by the Government?

“The Vokkaliga community should have been given 12 per cent reservation. The 2A demand of the Panchamasali Community should have been fulfilled. The governm6ent, which claims to have increased the reservation for Scheduled Castes, should have introduced it in Parliament and included it in Article 1. But so far, no proper documents and proposals have been submitted to the Centre,” he said.
