Vijayapura: Siddeshwara Seer, one of the prominent seers of the State passed away at his Gyanayogashrama on the night of Monday January 2.

According to sources, the 82-year-old Seer was suffering from age-related complications mainly because he was facing breathing issues. The Seer was being treated at his Ashram itself where the team of doctors were monitoring his health round the clock.

Though the seer had been facing health issues for a few years, his health started deteriorating a few weeks ago. Because of this, he largely remained confined to his room in the Ashram.

In the last three days, his health further deteriorated and he was under observation by the doctors.

After hearing news about the serious illness of the Seers, thousands of his followers and devotees began thronging to the Ashram to have his glimpse, and prominent political leaders of all parties started arriving at the Ashram to inquire about his health.

In the last couple of days, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and Former Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah visited the Ashram and inquired about the health of the Seer.

Besides these two prominent personalities, several present and former legislators from different districts including Bagalakote and Belagavi continued to visit the Ashram.

After the news of Seer suffering from severe illness spread, the Ashram witnessed an influx of people. All of them were praying for the speedy recovery of the Seer.

Known for his simplicity, the Seer became popular with this sermon where he was raising issues related to the common people.

Many of his devotees found solace in his sermons, which made them become his strong disciples. His simplicity could be easily gauged from the fact that he politely refused to accept funds from the government for his Ashram. He also declined to accept the Padma Shri award, the prestigious civilian award given by the Central Government.

Meanwhile, hundreds of his followers are in shock and disbelief. Deputy Commissioner Vijaymahantesh Dannmmanavar has issued a press release informing that the last rites of the seer would be performed at the Ashram itself at around 5.00 pm Tuesday.

His body would be first kept at the Ashram for the public to pay their last respect, later in the noon, his body would be taken in a procession to Sainik School where the body would be kept for public viewing till 4.00 pm before taking back to the Ashram for performing final rites.
